Very rarely do people think about hiring the right people when they’re building a team. They think about hiring the right skills, the right number of years of experience, but not necessarily the right people.
Anyone building a team, reorganizing, or handling post-merger or acquisition team alignment will think, “What skills do I need? And can I get or do I have the bodies to fill that need?”
Yes, skills are important, and having a pool of candidates or resources to choose from helps, but it is just a small piece of the puzzle.
Start by thinking about the right mindset, intangible skills, inherent capabilities and relatable industries and experience.
